The existing
health, MCH-FP and nutritional services facilities are quite
inadequate compared to the need of the people in the working areas of
Nabolok.Also
most people are not aware of the causes of diseases that are prevalent
in the locality. They are also not aware of simple preventive
measures, such as sanitation and nutrition. They are not aware of the
benefit of a small family. They have limited access to public health
and medical facilities. Considering all these things, Nabolok has given priority to health education, especially on mother and
child health care, water and sanitation, nutrition and on safe
childbirth practices. Nabolok also provides necessary support to
procure and install tube wells for safe water and low cost water
sealed latrines for better sanitation. |

Nabolok
started a three years project, named Viable Intervention for
Legally-secured Livelihood to Address Gender and Environment (VILLAGE)
project in Rampal Upazilla of Bagerhat district. Under this project a part
of the main activities includes creating awareness and motivation about
reproductive Health, nutritional knowledge and water-borne diseases among
the members of primary groups, enhancing awareness about available State
Services by means of Courtyard meetings, enhance awareness about health
through Cultural programs (Pot songs, Folk songs and drama), Identifying
and marking tube-wells delivering arsenic contaminated water. Under the
project Nabolok appointed a Paramedic for giving primary health care and
assistance to the rural people. A booklet on Primary Health Care and
Reproductive Health was also published and distributed under the project.
