Micro finance and Income Generation :

Employment and income generating programs have been given priority in the interventions of Nabolok. The economic bondage of the poor people has a long lasting and direct effect on the other aspects of their lives. The dependence of the poor, especially the women on the prevalent exploitative economic system render them increasingly vulnerable to injustice. The poor women are considered burdened in as much as their hard work in the domestic sphere does not bring any cash income and therefore goes unrecognized.

Nabolok encourages its group members to undertake various income generating activities once the groups reach a certain degree of cohesion set forth by the groups and Nabolok as well. Nabolok’s services in this particular area of intervention include technical assistance through provision of skill and vocational training, feasibility study, extension services and marketing.
When the groups demonstrate their maturity in regard to group cohesion, account management of group savings, completion of required vocational/skill training and proven competence in successfully running income-generating activities from their own savings, they qualify for credit assistance from Nabolok’s revolving credit fund (RCF). Nabolok offers credit within a service charge structure with the idea of sharing risk and returns with the recipients. Knowing the preference of the group, capacity of the members and feasibility of the desired scheme/project in the respective areas, Nabolok takes various steps beginning with appropriate training of the group members to prepare them for undertaking income generating schemes.
