Resource and Information Center


 


Development activities are successful only when appropriately planned, and in order to assist planning, there is need for necessary data, news, information & reference. Nabolok realizes the importance of this essential resource, and has taken initiatives to establish resource center in its head office and in project offices.

Resource Center & News Compilation

Resource center is another initiative of Nabolok to support development allies and researchers as well as the general people of southwest region in development activities. Nabolok tries to establish resource center that can be used as a think tank for this region in every aspect of development (i.e. community, environment, human rights, local resource etc). The resource center compiled various issue based news clippings from the daily newspapers. The paper clippings can be used as an information source and reference. It may be treated as a beacon of support in solution process. To conduct action research, basic research and various studies are the prime role of this resource center. Students of Urban and Rural Planning (URP) Discipline of Khulna University also conducted various researches and studies with their attachment to this head office based resource center.

Library

Further, in order to enhance the knowledge and efficiency of the organization’s personnel, Nabolok has established a library at its head office and a library in Fakirhat project office. The libraries also contain various books, Newsletters and periodicals published by other GO and NGO development organizations, and are regularly used by Nabolok personnel. Nabolok regularly adds to the library by purchasing books, Research Reports and other development-related literature. 

Publication:

Nabolok publishes a quarterly Newsletter named, 'Nabolok Barta'', both in Bangle and English to disseminate the organization’s development activities. Copies of Nabolok Barta are regularly sent to various government offices and non-government organizations over email or by post. Other publications of Nabolok include Dharitri and other development periodicals, in addition to our occasional publications Unnayan Barta and Paribesh Barta. Nabolok also publishes various leaflets and posters on various issues and national/international days. Under the VILLAGE project a booklet on Primary Health Care and Reproductive Health was also published by Nabolok. Under the Youth Leadership Project implemented in Fakirhat, Nabolok has taken initiatives to publish wall magazine by the youth club members.

Project Implementation and Completion Reports

In accordance with the wishes of donor organizations, Nabolok publishes Reports of its Implemented and completed projects. During the reporting period, Nabolok has published such reports in respect of projects funded by Bread for the World, CORDAID, CARE-RVCC, CARE-SHAHAR, SBCP etc.

Annual Progress Report

Nabolok also publishes Progress Reports based on its working areas under different projects at the end of each financial year. The last such Report was "Annual Report 2003--2004" and copies of the reports have been furnished to donors, government departments, NGOs and other Development organizations and activists.

Unnayan (Development) Periodical and Brochure

Nabolok has also published different issue-based brochures in respect of “Women and Child Abuse and Exploitation”, “Arsenic Mitigation”, “Nabolok at a Glance” etc. at different times. Nabolok has also published different manuals, such as Development and Organization Management Manual, Gender Development Committee Manual, Gono Unnayan Committee Manual, Upazilla Federation Manual and Organization Management Manual.
