Water and Sanitation :

Nabolok has been successfully implementing safe water supply and sanitation program since 1992 with the support of NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation. Nabolok has also established 2 Village sanitation Centers. So far, it has installed over 5000 hygienic water sealed latrines, brought about 10 villages with around 3000 families under total sanitation coverage. Nabolok also established 5 rainwater harvesting plants in Sarankhola Upazilla and 4 pond-sand filters in Fakirhat Upazilla under Bagerhat district. Nabolok also implemented a project titled Social Mobilization (SOCMOB) for Sanitation in Digholia Upazilla during 1993, with the assistance of NGO Forum. In addition to this, Nabolok has good number of skilled masons for the construction and installation safe water and sanitation installations

Water

Arsenic Screening: Nabolok has chemically examined the water from 700 tube-wells and marked them. Tube-wells that yield water containing more than the permissible level (according to UN standards) of arsenic are painted red, while those yielding relatively safe water are painted green. Five Nabolok personnel have received training on WATSAN management, communication, advocacy, monitoring etc.

Arsenic Mitigation: Nabolok will soon start Community development and arsenic mitigation activities in Fakirhat Upazilla, under the Bangladesh Arsenic Mitigation Water Supply Project (BAMWSP).
